Leading relationally is understanding that the best way to lead somebody is to come alongside them, person to person. It’s when they know you’re fully committed to them as an individual – not just the task, the organization, or the goals. It’s seeing people are the means and the ends of the leadership process.
We know this because it’s our journey. We’ve had gurus in our lives, and they’ve been very helpful, but the most valuable people have been the ones who would give us the time and walk with us. They would come alongside us, for long enough that we not only found some answers but became better leaders from the journey.
